Course Outline

Learn, Create & Celebrate – One Brushstroke at a Time

At The Seasons Art Class, each course is a step-by-step journey designed just for adults.

Even if you’ve never picked up a brush before — or haven’t painted since school — you’re in the right place.

With expert guidance, a supportive atmosphere and inspiring projects, you’ll gain the skills and confidence to draw and paint like you’ve always dreamed of.

There’s always something new to explore and enjoy. And no two courses are ever the same. Each season brings a fresh, carefully designed curriculum crafted by our qualified, passionate tutors.

That’s why many of our students return time and time again.

Weeks 1–3: Drawing – Line. Form. Foundation

We begin with the essentials – no matter your experience level.

In these first three weeks, you’ll learn the foundational principles of picture-making: perspective, balance, scale, and composition.

Using various grades of pencil, you’ll gain a solid grounding in drawing – the core of all great art – and build your confidence from the very start.

Weeks 4–5: Oil Pastels – Colour, Texture & Tone

Time to add colour to your creativity!

Oil pastels are a vibrant and exciting medium that introduces you to blending, layering, and mark-making in a bold new way.

We’ll guide you through mixing colours directly on the page, helping you create rich textures and expressive artworks that are uniquely your own.

Weeks 6–8: Watercolours – Flow, Light & Magic

Soft, flowing, and full of charm – watercolours are a student favourite!

You’ll explore brush techniques, colour blending, light and shadow, shading, and how to control water to get the look you want.

We’ll also touch on the colour wheel and the importance of paper preparation – unlocking the secrets to mastering this delicate medium.

Weeks 9–12: Acrylics – Bold, Versatile & Fun

Now things get exciting!

Acrylics are a joy to work with – bold in colour, quick to dry, and wonderfully versatile.

You’ll experiment with brushes and palette knives, explore layering and texture, and create dynamic paintings full of personality.

It’s no wonder acrylics become a go-to medium for so many students beyond the course!

Week 13: Mounting – Presenting Your Art

Your artwork deserves to be seen and celebrated.

This week, we’ll show you the impact a simple mount can have in transforming your pieces.

Even though these are temporary mounts, they’ll give your creations a polished, professional look.

Week 14: Exhibition – Celebrate Your Creative Journey

It’s time to celebrate!

In our final week, we host a joyful student exhibition where you can show off your incredible work to friends, family, and fellow students.

It’s more than just an event – it’s a celebration of your progress, passion, and the wonderful new friends you’ve made.

What’s Next?

Your creative adventure starts here – and this is just the beginning!

Whether this is your first time or you’re returning for another season, we can’t wait to welcome you into our friendly, supportive art community.
